CDAG to host the 4th International Congress on Research in Sport Sciences

06/11/2026

ASPC member Confederación Deportiva Autónoma de Guatemala (CDAG) invites the international sport science community to its online congress on 10–12 November 2026, exploring the theme “Specificity and Specialization in Sport.”

The congress will examine scientific advances in sport specificity and specialization, and their implications for athletes’ holistic development. Bringing together specialists from research and practice, the event offers an opportunity to exchange knowledge and explore approaches to athlete development.

The three-day programme will feature keynote lectures, presentations, discussion sessions and a round table, with contributions from specialists from NSCA Spain, NSCA-USA, the Public University of Navarre, UVic-UCC and CDAG, among other organisations.

Key topics include:

  • The scientific foundations of training specificity.
  • The risks and benefits of early and late specialization.
  • Athlete development models from different countries.
  • The role of competition in athlete development.
  • Psychological and social perspectives on specialization.

The congress is open to coaches, strength and conditioning professionals, multidisciplinary support teams, technical managers, researchers, university students and anyone interested in sport sciences.
