Data scientist or sports scientist specialising in data science (m/f/d)

recruits, with an intended entry date as soon as possible,

1 data scientist or sports scientist specialising in data science (m/f/d)
(permanent contract – full time)

Main tasks:

  • To cover all topics related to data collection, management and analysis linked to elite athletes using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • To collaborate with interdisciplinary teams under the supervision of the LIHPS department heads to incorporate data insights into practical applications and ensure an integrated approach to performance optimisation as well as injury and illness prevention.
  • To develop predictive models and decision-making tools to support LIHPS experts in the fields of performance and prevention, and facilitate interdepartmental collaboration using monitoring instruments.
  • To ensure the further development, maintenance and analysis of the database with data collected from the various areas of LIHPS.
  • To assist in the coordination of LIHPS support activities.
  • To reinforce the teams involved in athlete testing and evaluation.
  • To work as an integral member of a team of dedicated LIHPS experts in all relevant areas of high-performance sport.
  • To foster a climate of trust, collegiality and cooperation among all stakeholders involved.

Required qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in data science, sports science with a specialisation in data science, or a similar field related to high-performance sport.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, R or similar data analysis languages.
  • Proven expertise in data analysis, statistical modelling and machine learning.
  • Advanced knowledge of monitoring performance, load, injuries and illnesses of elite athletes is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of English is required; French, German or Luxembourgish are an advantage.
  • Flexibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
