26/03/2026

The ASPC BOD conducted a series of strategic meetings in Belgrade, further strengthening institutional relationships and reinforcing the role of sport within major international initiatives.

ASPC President Dr. Harry Bähr, General Secretary Mr. Josep Escoda, and Treasurer Mrs. Fiona de Jong visited the headquarters of Expo 2027 Belgrade, where they were introduced to the scope and vision of this global project. The visit provided valuable insight into the expected impact of the Expo on the city of Belgrade, with sport positioned as one of the central pillars of the event.

Following this visit, the ASPC delegation was received by the Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić. Drawing from his background as a former elite water polo player, Mayor Šapić shared his perspective on high-performance sport and underlined the importance of dual career pathways in supporting athletes both during and after their sporting careers.

The programme continued with a visit to the Serbian Volleyball Federation, where ASPC BOD met with Ivan Knežević, Secretary General of the federation and First Vice President of the European Volleyball Confederation. Discussions focused on talent identification and development models, as well as on strengthening the broader sport ecosystem to support young athletes.

These engagements were made possible through the support and coordination of Siniša Jasnić, CEO of the International Forum on Elite Sport Belgrade 2027 and President of the Sport Academy Belgrade, and his team. The meetings form part of the ongoing preparations towards the International Forum on Elite Sport, which will be hosted in Belgrade in 2027.
