Ivan Tibau, General Secretary of Catalonia Sports and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CAR Sant Cugat and Joan Cusco, Vice President of the Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW), signed a collaboration agreement whereby the CAR becomes an official training and support centre for the national federations and international beach soccer teams.

Western Australian Institute of Sport canoeist Robin Jeffery has won silver in the men’s C1 final at the Australian Open event in Penrith.
The 2012 Olympian finished behind German Franz Anton, who weaved his way through the 18 gate course in a winning time of 91.47, 2.22 seconds ahead of Jeffery, with Czech Republic star Stanislav Jezek finishing in third.
Four Western Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holders have been named in the Kookaburras squad for the 2013 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia.
The 18 man squad has been selected with one eye towards the future, with five debutants selected for the tournament named after the ninth King of Malaysia.
Chris Bausor, Craig Boyne, Trent Mitton and Aran Zalewski will all represent WA in the tournament that runs from March 9-17.
Australia has finished the UCI Track World Championships in Minsk, Belarus ranked third after collecting eight medals at the 2013 Championships.
WAIS athletes Scott Sunderland and Melissa Hoskins were unable to add further medals to the silver, Hoskins won in the women’s team pursuit earlier in the competition.
